About AML

The Advanced Materials Laboratory (AML), led by Dr. Elsiddig Elmukashfi, is a cutting-edge research group dedicated to advancing the understanding of materials through both simulation and experimentation. Our work focuses on developing high-fidelity models and designing precise characterisation experiments to unravel the intricate process-structure-property (PSP) relationships in materials.

At AML, we pay particular attention to investigating deformation and failure mechanisms, as well as the influence of microstructural features and their statistical distributions under extreme conditions (e.g., high temperatures, corrosive environments, etc.).

Our overarching mission is to pioneer a microstructure-informed, closed-loop framework for studying materials. This approach aims to facilitate the development of resilient and optimised structures, as well as the design of next-generation advanced materials that can withstand the challenges of modern applications.
